Case Studies
Dancing With The Stars (Strictly Come Dancing)
We are contracted by BBC Worldwide to provide a Screen2 app for Dancing With The Stars internationally, with the first outing in Greece and Cyprus during May 2011. The app supports the series with content about the contestants and judges, multiple twitter feeds, competitions and voting.
Voting for contestants in talent shows through premium rate texts and phone calls is well established. Our contestant scoring feature takes this to a new level, giving viewers a real sense of involvement with the programme and eliminating problems of viewers being overcharged when their votes arrive after voting windows have closed.
- Viewers get extra information about the contestants. They can rate the contestants as they perform against key criteria.
- As they do this, they create a leader board on their phones. They can then vote for contestants at the top of the leader board, or change their mind.
- Votes are received by premium rate text message sent automatically by the application.
- During the programme itself viewers can give their own scores to the contestants, and predict the judges' scores, with the app fully synchronised to the show's running order.
- The Activity Manager gives production teams real-time data on the performance of the app, and how viewers are responding.
Gran Hermano (Big Brother)
In collaboration with Endemol and Spain's Telecinco, we delivered the Big Brother format's first mobile app during March and April 2011. Quiz competitions, sponsored by Philips, generated a significant number of opt-ins from viewers, while normal SMS voting was made much simpler and more direct, generating considerable repeat voting and enhanced revenues.
